Abstract
May 24, 2023, marked the 142nd anniversary of the birth of my great-grandfather, President of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1930–1946) Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Bogomolets (1881–1946). Fate and history protected him. During the repressions, when many scientists ended up behind bars at best, Academician Bogomolets managed not only to save himself, but also to save others.
